Influenza

It is commonly known as “Flu” and is highly infectious. It causes fever and pains all over the body, and affects the nose, throat and air passages as in common cold. An isolated case may be difficult to identify but during epidemics it is not difficult to recognize these cases.
The disease is caused by various types of influenza viruses which are passed out in the discharges from the mouth and nose of the infected persons. It spreads in the same way as common cold. I starts with fever, headache, sore throat , cold with sneezing and pain all over the body with restlessness. The fever usually comes down after 4-6 days if proper care is taken. In neglected cases, complications like pneumonia, bronchitis and ear infections may develop. These are dangerous.
An attack of influenza is followed by severe general weakness which can be overcome by taking good rest and nourishing food. A tonic medicine on the advice of a doctor may be beneficial.
